Apolipoproteins

Apolipoprotein A-1 is the main protein constituent of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and apolipoprotein B is the main protein constituent of low-density lipoprotein (LDL). It has been shown that serum levels of these apolipoproteins are excellent indicators of the risk of coronary disease. A high level of Apo B and a low level of Apo A-1 indicate an increased risk of coronary heart disease.
