Amoebiasis

Amoebiasis is a parasitosis caused by the protozoon, Entamoeba histolytica. It is possible to distinguish the infestation due to the saprophyte and commensal “minuta” form of Entamoebia histolytica, that gives no or few clinical symptoms, and the disease-causing “histolytica” form of Entamoebiasis histolytica that is pathogenic and haematophagous.
